PALEMBANG, Hainews.id – Pencemaran Sungai Musi dan anak-anak sungai di Kota Palembang saat ini sangat mengkhawatirkan. Air sungai yang keruh bahkan hitam disertai bau busuk yang menyengat akibat limbah menjadi permasalahan yang harus diatasi.
Ketua Serikat Media Siber Indonesia (SMSI), Jon Heri mengatakan, untuk mengatasi pencemaran sungai tidak hanya cukup sekedar seremonial atau hanya dilakukan sesekali saja. Namun, diperlukan konsistensi dan komitmen dari seluruh pihak, baik itu Pemerintah hingga masyarakat.
“Jangan hanya sesekali saja, kita lihat Wali Kota Palembang turun bersihkan sungai, lalu kebanyakan warga hanya menonton,” ujar Jon Heri dalam acara Forum Diskusi dengan tema “Menyelami Sungai Musi Dalam Perspektif Kebijakan Pemerintah Untuk Kelestarian Lingkungan Budaya Dan Kesejahteraan Masyarakat”, yang digelar Kantor Berita RMOL Sumsel di Istana Adat Kesultanan Palembang, Kamis (11/8).
Terjadinya kerusakan lingkungan di Sungai, sambung dia tidak terlepas dari peran masyarakat yang masih menganggap buang sampah sembarangan atau ke sungai merupakan hal yang biasa.
“Program pemerintah terkait penanganan pencemaran sungai harus disosialisasikan, bukan hanya melalui rilis saja. Sehingga masyarakat tahu penyebabnya banjir dari Sungai Musi, media kerjasama Kominfo ajak masyarakat untuk ikut berkontribusi dalam membersihkan sungai,” kata dia.
Dikatakan Jon Heri, pemberitaan tentang permasalahan dan penanganan permasalahan lingkungan di Kota Palembang menjadi permasalahan tersendiri bagi media massa. Hal ini dikarenakan kurang terbukanya pemerintah setempat dalam penyampaian data.
“Ketika teman jurnalis ingin mendalami pemerintah tidak terbuka, menurut saya ini tidak tegas, ada peraturan namun tidak ada penjaga yang mengawasi peraturan ini,” jelas dia.
Sementara, anggota Tim Ekspedisi Sungai Nusantara (ESN), Hariansyah Usman menambahkan, dari hasil penelitian pihaknya, Sungai Musi sejauh ini menjadi sungai dengan mikroplastik paling banyak.
“Kita mengambil sampel beberapa jenis ikan, hasilnya di dalam tubuh ikan tersebut terdapat mikroplastik,” kata dia.
Oleh karena itu, kata dia, Pemerintah jangan tinggal diam. Terlebih, Sungai Musi masih menjadi sumber bahan baku air bersih bagi masyarakat.
“Masyarakat maupun perusahaan yang beraktivitas di pinggiran Sungai Musi harus diedukasi untuk mengolah sampah ataupun limbah yang akan dibuang. Sehingga, kualitas air sungai Musi bisa membaik,” tandasnya. [R]
